Apparently, my second cousin has taken to raising chickens for the eggs in her back yard. She posted this picture with the caption: “Lucy has taken to jumping up on my lap to get some loving each day while i am out to visit. She hops up and sits while I pet her. She is so sweet!”
A chicken with a personality?! Well, gee whiz.
Anywho, enjoy your dinner tonight!

Well, personally, I think these four chickens are the luckiest chickens around.  They have a human mama that loves them and they get to run around the yard and play.  They even give the cats trouble!   They are not mistreated in any way and are being spoiled rotten by my cousin.  I know vegans and most vegetarians don’t eat eggs, but geez, these guys are living the life…. nothing compared to the chicken factories.  And quite honestly, I don’t think my cousin is doing this solely for the eggs.  She lost her son when she was six months pregnant and had to go through delivering her stillborn child.  I think she is mothering these chickens and I say more power to her!
She has also rescued four 3 week old kittens that were abondoned under her deck.  She has been teaching them how to poop and pee and feeding them throughout the day for several weeks all while working 50+ hours per week.  I wish all chickens and kittens could be so damn lucky!!
